I know some of ya have seen the video.. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...continued.html
Some have been helping and I really appreciate the help, I got her back together and the timing is fixed now the harmonic balancer doesn't jump around like it was before Unfortunately not mush has changed when throttling.. I recall a suggestion to check the compression, so today I picked up a compression tester gauge and here are the results.. WOT all 8 plugs were out and the battery was charged.
#1 piston was at 92 psi
#2 - 88
#3 - 63
#4 - 91
#5 - 90
#6 - 89
#7 - 92
#8 - 90
what do you guys think?
X2, they're a little on the low side but more importantly they're pretty consistent across all cylinders (within 4psi in your case) with the exception of cylinder #3
I would think it be a valve leaking, It could be carbon keeping the valve from closing fully. You think if it was a valve it would be popping out the intake or exhaust? I would run a leak down test. That will tell you if you have a valve leaking or a bad cylinder.
whats the inital timing at? sounds advanced a lil much...
shoot some oil in the cylinders and recheck compression.
what happened to that 428 crank you were goin on about? it may very well be time for that rebuild...
i dunno what you think the seafoam is gunna do for you...
poast leak down test and the wet compression results, that will do more than some seafoam...
and id still like to hear what youv got for initial timing, kinda sounds like my truck did when my advance was sticking open
I always start with 12 initial, that video was before I changed the timing chain, in that video the timing was set at 16..or so I thought... when I changed the chain the piston was TDC and the dizzy was pointing at 3 maybe closer to 4 o clock? So i think the timing was jacked to begin with..
