should i replace torque converter?
Doing a mild rebuild/refresh on my 86 460 c6 4x4 in my f350 dually.
should i upgrade the converter while the motor is out? it has 130k on it, but seemed to shift ok.
Should i go with a stock one from say NAPA or do i need something for an RV or performance from summit, etc?
Thanks

I am not sure if I would worry about it if it’s working Ok. I replaced my stock unit with the TCI 443630 in an effort to stop tranny overheating and didn’t notice any difference in performance over the stock unit. I would put a heavy-duty converter designed for towing if you do plan on replacing it. I put the TCI in mine and they run around $295.00. You can get a good one from monstertrans.com for $214.00. Their part number is PP3682. That’s only about $50.00 more than a stock unit and I feel it would be worth the 50 bucks to know that you have a really strong unit in the truck. Just my opinion.
