Not sure if you've finished this project but if not, I'd at least buy a premium stock converter. You're all apart, the old converter is still good, but they do wear out.
An upgraded one for towing will be a noticeable gain as well.
I am not sure if I would worry about it if it’s working Ok. I replaced my stock unit with the TCI 443630 in an effort to stop tranny overheating and didn’t notice any difference in performance over the stock unit. I would put a heavy-duty converter designed for towing if you do plan on replacing it. I put the TCI in mine and they run around $295.00. You can get a good one from monstertrans.com for $214.00. Their part number is PP3682. That’s only about $50.00 more than a stock unit and I feel it would be worth the 50 bucks to know that you have a really strong unit in the truck. Just my opinion.
