I've not been online for a while(computer problems) and thought I'd share my progress. The frame has been sand blasted and painted, the engine will be ready soon and parts have been cleaned and inspected. Most mechanical parts are unusable. I have a small pile of usable parts. I can get some parts locally but the larger heavier parts cost more to ship than buy. I need front and rear springs, 3speed side shift trans, useable diff. Anyone know where I might find these parts? The body is in great shape other than the running boards. Sorry I have no pix uploaded yet.
If your parts are affordable and in good useable condition I'd consider driving down. You're only 6hrs one way from me. My boss has final say in purchases and I would need to figure shipping against pickup cost. My truck is more of a 4 door, hotrod sedan with a big trunk than a truck but if he pays me hours and fuel I'd go.
I've had no luck with craigslist locally. The vintage wreckers have no Ford parts either. My boss wants to see progress and is on me to get more work done and I'm trying to keep within a budget.
As much as I would like to sell some parts, I think you should get in touch with this guy. He is in Washington and is offering a GREAT deal on all you need (except he has a floor shift trans). I would love to trade my extra column shift 3 speed for a floor shift 4 speed!
It's been a long time since I've posted, again. Things are moving along OK.
Found a rear diff and springs in Washington, a trans and front springs locally.
My boss bought all of the other parts from the Old Car Center. The parts made in China are #$@&%^! I've had to hone all the bushings to size. PITA!
The body is being blasted and sent to a body shop. I'm finishing the frame and running gear in the next couple of weeks, Here's some pix.
I'll have to figure out how to add pix later, I'm off to work.
Go to Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.
While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ghtsafter1.jpg
Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).
When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).
