Need an opinion
I know sometime in '87-97 they built 2wd F350 supercab duallys so you could find one of those convert it to a SRW 4x4 and put a bullnose on it.
A)You've changed the entire driveline, springs and brakes.
B)I can almost guarantee a 500 horse engine will not meet the Federal EPA emissions requirements of a 1984 "F-350".
C)You most likely will have little carrying capacity left in relation to the VIN associated with that frame and cab and all the heavy running gear.
As I said, just 'A' of the above is illegal under both Federal law and the laws of my State.
No matter how well your 'conversion' is done, your misuse of a VIN would cause that truck to be impounded if you happened upon a roadside DOT checkpoint.
...Just as if a chop shop had assembled a car from stolen parts, or swapped the VIN tag into another vehicle.
Issuance of a new VIN, while possible, is tricky business here.
I have titled and registered a few composite vehicles, though never a truck.
Legal GVWR has nothing to do with that badge, and is a totally different much more complicated thing, but that's not your question is it.
I've seen an E-350 Dually flatbed conversion driving around my town its pretty cool its between an 80-86. ArkWrknTrk, you can hot rod any engine all you want here in the state of Florida. Even if there are some they are not strongly enforced what so ever.
They are very flexible here, youll see vehicles ranging from hotrods with blowers to F-350 turbo diesels on 53" military tires with 2.5 ton miltary axles. Especially being here in Daytona Beach where the NASCAR speedway is, Bike week and also having woods with mud holes 10 miles down the road. Oh also cant forget the turkey run one of the countrys biggest HotRod car shows. Also 1984 my truck says under the hood NON-CATALYST, so the truck has no catalytic converters from the factory having no restrictions on emissions that come out of the tail pipe unless its running like crap pumping to much raw fuel out or continous heavy smoke. If a vehicle is equipt with catalytic conveters yes they are very strict but we also do not have any yearly emissions tests or inspections like some tight states. Just so long as it aint too loud you will be left alone...thats really it.
Half the people here drives jacked up hot rod trucks gas/diesel all over so id say im safe so its no concern of mine. I'll leave the F-250 badges on the truck and let people under estimate it. I could always put my 2003 F-550 7.3 4x4, crew cab, mannningville kentucky conversion pickup up to anything i wanted. Now that has a huge rear end and some spring packs haha
Thanks for the input yall.
Ah, So you're in Florida.
Didn't see anything in your profile...
Yea, Florida is pretty liberal with registrations. When I was in Flagler Beach/Ormond by the Sea there was no inspections at all.
Look closer at that sticker and you will see the EPA limits of 33.1g per BHP-hour, .
They never used to care about noise much there either.
I can attest to contributing to the constant ruckus on A1A, driving a Ranchero with mini tubs under the tonneau and dual tunnel ram 460 poking through what was left of the hood.
Late '70's, early '80's were good times down there before Meth & Oxy's ruined so much of the local "color"
and just one last question is there really a difference between the f250HD and f350 frame gauge?
