Weather guessers say 80 degrees for today, and the next 2 days. A little warm for this time of the year up here. Topped out at 75 yesterday. And it was 0 Monday morning. Mother Nature can't seem to make up her mind.

Howdy all. Don't get me started on Cable. In Sheridan they are very close to being replaced with Starlink. Starling here at Bravo has been fantastic. No complaints at all.

The Gun Safe arrived around 1530 yesterday afternoon. It arrived on a much bigger truck than I was expecting. Gun safe was the only thing left in the trailer when he got here, and he had a 100 mile run to get back to the yard. It was funny (disappointing) that he wouldn't back up to the deck on the Red/storage building to drop the safe. He'd pull down to the pole barn / garage and drop it there, but not go another 50 yards to the deck. Instead of backing around the side of the pole barn in the south drive, he backed up almost 200 yards, around a curve and a near 90° corner to get nosed out and head down the lane back to the highway. So, it wasn't like he didn't know how to back the thing up. Anyway, safe is in front of the barn and I talked to the Safe/Heavy Item movers and he said no problem, but their appointment schedule was full and couldn't get to me until tomorrow (Friday) at 1330. Nice days are forecasted so

Had to move the mower out of the barn to get the Ridge SxS in to where the snowplow I can take the snowplow off and store it for off season. Since I gassed it up and moved the mower, I decided to use it.

No snow to speak of this year and it has really been dry. The area in question has always had snow on it and some of it covered with water in March. The lawn area hasn't grown and there was nothing to mow there, but the river bottom wet land was a candidate. I've never been able to open up some trails and take care of some brush growth this early so I gave it a shot. Some of the channels still had a little standing water, but for the most part I was able to cut back a couple of areas of old horse pasture, mow some paths and trails. Also cut some back adding about 8' width to the bottom of the front yard, not that I needed that, but I'm experimenting with it. For the most part, it was so dry and dusty to almost be a problem. I was able to accomplish in about 90 minutes what, in the past, has taken me 1/2 a day or more. I did have one surprise where the mower sunk into mud under dry grass and buried it pretty well. Was going to get the tractor but tried the SxS & winch now that the plow was off and it pulled it right out.
It's been dry enough that they had their first major wildfire of the season abut 20 miles north of us. I haven't heard the cause yet, but it did cause enough evacuations that they opened up an evac center capable of handling people and the rodeo grounds for livestock. I'm hearing now that the evacs have been canceled, but the area is still on Level 1 notice.

This is a pretty normal May. In March there is less water, but snow does cover the area. Note the Frost Free Spigot.

Frost Free spigot now. No snow and no water.

All I have is a box with the safe in it. I'll have some set in place pics tomorrow night, I hope. Won't be any gun **** with it though. That'll come later.

Here's a teaser from the brochures....

Howdy all. 30 when the dogs and I left for a walk this morning. We are up to 39 now. Dogs had a good time along the river this morning. Snoopy really upset he couldn't jump in.

A little bit of pre transfers to the new safe....

Caution, the Following pictures can cause periods of extreme distress between husband and wife in addition to causing bans from Sporting Good Stores.....

Springfield M1 Garand, WWII, after war refurbished by Winchester and sent to Korea. My Uncle got it post Korea & Pre Vietnam. He used it to shoot mines from the roof of the wheelhouse on his mine sweeper, USS Woodpecker, off the coast of Vietnam. I have the scope mount and the scope he used on it.

Howdy all. Good news and bad news today. Good news is that the gun safe is in the building and ready to start loading down.
Brad brought his wife along to help. Turns out he's a hunter and fisherman as is she. Added to that she is a dispatcher in the 911 center in Bend. We had a lot in common.

Brad said he has moved an awful lot of safes, but this was the first Remington 'Big Green'. He was very impressed with it. To the point he's now thinking he is going to replace his Liberty Safe with one. He also got pictures of it and the install to post on his web page project installs. He assured me there would be no names or location identifiable information, so I told him to go ahead.
I think it is a nice looking safe and I'm pretty satisfied with its appearances. But there again I'm very biased and if I didn't like it, it not like I'm just going to throw it in the back of the pickup and haul it off. It's probably still going to be sitting there in 2126!
