Terrible day in Kentucky from the storms. We just got a little wind here, went from 63 to 38 in about an hour. This isn't supposed to be the Dakotas!

Yesterday the storm drifted from rain to rain snow mix. Nothing much really stuck to the ground. No need to shovel driveway.
Todays temps were 20° colder than yesterday morning/ Snow was sticking and it really picked during the morning commute. I got on I-15 and was driving about 50 mph but it soon slowed to 5 mph. I got 15 miles from home and turned around and came home. I called the mason and they had pulled off and headed home so no need to go watch an empty job site.
I found it interesting that every slight hill on the freeway ( ie where the freeway climbed up and over overpasses) traffic was doing the stop and go and people could not get going again on the slight grades. Especially Semi's. They would try to start moving and the drive axles would slide sideways away from the crown of the road. So they were basically jack knifing their rigs when they tried to start moving. This really piled up the traffic. Snow plows could not get through the plugged traffic, and as more snow fell, it was just getting worse. So I got off the freeway and took some secondary streets back home. I laughed at pickup truck with Texas plates. He was at a red light., Light turned green and he punched it and promptly spun a 180° in the intersection. He was facing the wrong way and had to inch back and forth to get turned the right way. Lets hope all these new people moving into Utah, quickly learn how to drive in snow, or move back to where they came from.

Driving on ice as a kid!!! There was a slough a couple miles from home that was probably a couple square miles. When we had a wet fall it would have about a foot of water covering it. When it froze solid there were a couple of us would get out there in a vehicle…….get it up to about 50 or 60, then crank the wheel and lock the brakes!!!! Boy could we do some spins there! Never had a wreck! There was one time a deputy sherrif sat on the road and watched us play, but never said anything! Probably waiting for us to wreck!

My wife and I went to the Bronco's game today. Normally I wouldn't be caught dead watching the NFL but the tickets were free and we don't get out much. If you're a Lions fan, you have my sympathy, they're terrible. 38-10.
While the tickets were free, the light rail was not ($21) and the food certainly wasn't ($38). I did learn that you don't send my wife out for more food. She picks the place based on the shortest line. We ended up with popcorn in the 3rd quarter. I'm not much into beer and my wife refuses to drink it at all. So we felt a little out of place. I swear, some people spend more time getting beer than they do watching the game.
The guy in front of us was funny. He liked to high five everyone around him, including the people walking up the stairs (we were on the end of the row), especially the folks carrying a beer in each hand.

Good morning guys!
Happy 15th Birthday Theresa! Roy, she'll be taking over the truck soon. Imagine the guys that will want to date her in that truck!
Linda had her work Christmas party Friday evening. We started at my buddies house for a few hours. They had invited the cabinetry dept people over to pre-party. His wife works with my wife. We went to South Dakota with them. His name is Don as well, so you know he's a cool cat and a BS'er . We had a great time there and then went to the actual company party. That wasn't as fun. I don't know hardly anyone and everyone was pretty hammered. I was driving, but neither of us drank much all night. It was still a fun night.
We finished 99% of our shopping over the weekend. We picked up a few things for my mother who is always tough to shop for. That was nice to get that done. The traffic out there is insane. Almost to what it was like before Covid. That was one nice thing about Covid, is the traffic and people shopping was far less. Watched the Packers v. Bears last night. Those two teams always play well against each other. It was a fun game to to watch.
Have a great week everyone!
