Your egt's are going to get high regardless what turbo you have.
Call majestic turbo and see what they can do to your stock turbo. They can build it to a 66mm for half the cost of a d66 I just don't know if they can do anything for the exhaust side
Yea that's what I figured I'd have to do now could I use SD up pipes and mount a stock "looking" turbo on it because it those up pipes were stock for the 7.3 in later years?
The only stock appearing turbo is the D66.
With good tunes it can handle Stage-3's with the fuel turned back.
If the truck is set up just right you woudl probably be in the middle of the pack.
Simplest thing if you're a Ford guy and want to do good in the work-stock class is go buy a '08 or newer Ford truck. They will pull circles around you all day long no matter how much you crank up your truck.
Just buy a whole lot of stock turbos or mount a 38r of a SD with an up pipe change. If you have been to many pulls at all watch the manifolds. They are cherry red. Burying a 2000 degree gauges is nothing to alot of guys.
96ford250 im not sure what area of northeast ohio your from, but im in lorain county and just going to the fair and seeing them boys pull brings a tear to my eye that my truck cant do that. They have some serious money in their rigs.
last year some girl drove her dads 6.7 and got first. Thought about asking my boss to take his truck this year.
Forgot about that thanks Jim. If your just gonna pull. A modded 6.0 vgt charger. Get creative with mounting it but would still fit in the rules. Couple guys moving some air with them. You'd need a controller but for simply pulling a BP referenced controller could do the trick. Still a factory ford charger.
