Is the A/C compressor the same on the 97 5.4 and 1997 4.6? I'm looking on ebay and I only see 4.6 ones and I need one for a 5.4! Well I don't actually need the whole compressor just the clutch!

I can't see any reason why they would be different. But if you want to be sure, go to an online auto parts store's website and look up the compressor for both engines. If you get the same part number for each, then you know they're interchangeable.

 

If it's factory-installed air, both engines use the same compressor and clutch assembly.

 

Just buy the clutch assembly at the parts store. It is just an electro magnet and easy to install with no loss of freon.
