Compressor Brand?
2003 E250 5.4 gas motor
Any one brand of A/C compressor better than all the others? OEM is about $405 and I'd like to do a bit better, prefer new over reman'd.

If Denso was the OEM, and probably was, you should be able to get a new Denso with clutch already installed for less than a Denso in a "Motorcraft" box.
Check rockauto and the like. I bought an FS-10 from them earlier this year, the real FS-10, Denso.
I would rather have a compressor from the company that developed the model, and makes hundreds of thousands of them per year, than a knock-off brand. Denso and Ford have a long relationship together.
Denso is making compressors for the North American market in Mexico, which I feel is a lot better place than China. To operate in Mexico, Denso doesn't have to sell their shorts to do business there, and they control the process, it's their company.
I suspect that there are Chinese factories that are making compressors that the same compressor is sold here under many different names.
