Brakes question

Ive been reading thought the threads about brake upgrades, and what Im seeing is rotors and pads, or clays kit.

My question is, supposedly the 450's have better brakes than the 250's and 350's (from a couple post statements). Can I bolt on the F450 caliper and get new rotors? Or are they not interchangeable. Reason I ask is because some of my previous vehicles this could be done like my 2002 Pontaic Gran Prix GTP that had Corvette Z06 Calipers, and 13 inch Autozone rotors.

Has anyone tried this and can it be done?

Still nothing?

Ok lets approach this from a different direction. Who here has a F450?

What I can figure out right now without starting to tear down things and try is that the rotors on the F250 are 13 inches, and the F450 appear to be 14.5 inches. This is just looking at autozone to replace them and the measurements on there. Then looking at pictures of the 450 and 250 replacement parts it may look like its do-able.

Now here the question I have for anyone on here that has a F450. What size rims come stock on that rig? All I have been looking at is 2000 parts, so thats what im basing it off of. My stock are 16's, so 14.5 can fit under, the main concern is the rotor itself.

Thats my only question so far.

I don't think it can be done but would like to here how it goes. If it can be done with larger rims only then I think more guys would be doing it.

My F450 has 19.5" dia wheels and it barely clears the calipers on the rear. The bolt pattern for the wheel studs are completely different as well (8x225mm).

Ok so larger wheels will be required. And im not talking about using all the F450 parts. Main piece will be the caliper and caliper bracket. Then for the rotor since they are different patterns I would find a 14.5 inch rotor for this truck with the pattern I need. The Grand Prix had different lug patterns than the Corvette, but I pulled those off by finding rotors that size with my pattern.

So if I can make this happen I will have to go with 20 inch wheels instead of the 18's I was thinking.
