D50 gear swap?
I had a 1986 F250 that I got from a friend with a grenaded D44HD. I swapped in a decent D50 from another truck only to later find out my friend had not actually known what gears it originally had. The truck now has 3:55's in the rear and 4:10's up front. I have a set of D50 3:55's from another 86 F250 I used to have that only had 110k miles when pulled. Can I get away with dropping the pumpkin and swapping the gears or will it still need to be done with all the special tools. If we take it to a shop we will have to pay for a full rebuild as well as the gear swap.
