I just wanted to know if anybody here has put a 12' sub in back of a 93 F-150, reg. cab. I'm not sure it will fit. I am kind of a tall guy, so the bench has to be all the way back. I am fully prepared to construct my own box, I just wanted to know 1.) if anybody has done this and 2.) any helpful hints. Thanks alot.
How much space do you have under your seat? I'm wondering if an L shape box would work. Maybe ported with the ports facing up or under the seat toward your feet.
if u like leg room, go 10" sub and no, the port cant really go under the seat (thought and tried to build a cardboard set up, no dice). dont get me wrong, i run a 12" woofer behind my seat and i have plenty of leg room (5'11" seats up 3 notches with sealed box and 5 with ported). id go with a 10", usually smaller box needed and less mounting depth.
Go here>>>CLICK ME!<<< You can either buy a box from them, or "steal" there measurements and make your own. The box designs can house a single, or a pair of 8's, 10's, or 12's. Check the mounting depth of the sub(s) your considering to make sure there is enough clearance (sub depth+1" and clearance for the surround...nothing worse than hearing your surround flapping against your seat). Image Dynamics IDQ line has a great reputation for shallow depth/outstanding SQ subs. ED's new 8A (or even better, 2 or 3 ) would be a nice choice, too.
BTW, porting a box for a reg. cab truck probably isn't worth the extra hassle. 1, or even 2 subs, sealed, behind your seat, 2 feet from your head, inside a small cabin, will still produce enough SPL to cause hearing damage. Couple that with decreased legroom and it's a sort of no-win situation.
