X quit on me would crank over but not fire back up. For 2-3 weeks it had been running a little rough with low power until it got up to speed. Checked the usual suspects and found DTC P0299 low boost, P0266 #2 cylinder contribution/balance and P0232 fuel pump secondary circuit high. My feeling was that these issues while serious should not shut it down completely and prevent it from cranking.
Starter spun engine well, it just sounded like it was starving for fuel. I found the secondary filter bowl empty. Checked AD2 fuses and found the 20a (relay?)blown. Replaced fuse filled filters, fired it up and ran smooth. First test drive(10 miles) ran ok, still not normal power but ok. Back to shop, parked and shut it down. Less than 30 minutes later took off to the grocery store Cranked and ran ok for 15 minutes into the trip. Then it started skipping and eventually shut down. Checked the AD2 fuse and not only was the 20a fuse blown, the holder was partially melted. I have not found any bare wires or signs of a short. AD2 is probably 4+ years old and never given any problems.
Any thoughts or ideas on where I should start and what the cause might be?? My signature shows what I have modded. Thanks for reading.
My best "guess" would be that the motor seal leaked and it's full of diesel fuel. I've seen it happen a couple of times. You'll have to contact Airdog, have them send you a replacement pump and send yours back.
NPCCPartsman,
I was going to message you last night but I figured you would weigh in once you saw my post and had time. You are a great asset to the forum. I've emailed AirDog and will remove the pump today. That way when they respond I should be able to answer any questions. I will post their response.
Thanks
Sheryle
The AD2 was replaced under warranty. Arrived this morning 10:00 AM and the X was up and running by 11:00 AM: The original was purchased in 2009 and everyone was as helpful as if I had purchased it last week. I appreciate the help from AirDog and FTE. Special thanks to Diane at the Missouri facility for getting it shipped so quickly.
BTW! The old AD2 will be shipped back Monday for evauation and testing.
