I'm willing to bet it will make you flunk the smog check. You can take it off come smog time I suppose but know you'll be breaking their special emission laws. Personal choice really.
I don't know about other tuners or chips but the 5-Star unit stores the OEM program. Just reload the OEM and off to the sniffer. Takes about 5 minutes or less.
well Just my concern is check engine lights popping up but of course when that time comes i will go back to stock tune. But if there is no damage at all to the truck I will be happy its just i recently found out this is a cali truck.

I think being a Cali truck just means it has an EGR and maybe some more detuning for emissions in the program. I've swapped programs back and forth and haven't had any CE lights. Now if you have deleted the EGR and go back to the stock program you may get a CE light, I'm not sure, but no EGR would be a fail on visual anyway.

does anyone know which configuration received an EGR? my cali truck did not come with an EGR. i bought the truck new in march of 2001, sorry for the hi-jack, but i am curious
