The absolute worst POS NeverSpark module was D7AZ-12A199-A installed on some 1977/79 CA vehicles, had a Red plastic square.
Late 1978/early 1979: 10's of 1000's (!!) of brand new and customers vehicles were parked on dealers service lots, because the POS was defective and was on D99 backorder Detroit: FoMoCo had none.
It took THREE MONTHS before any were available and when we received them, they were no better than they were before!
Those were DS-II red grommet units were used with the EEC-I wasn't it? Installed on Pintos and other California cars etc...
Those were horrific crap...
The DS-II blue grommet modules, were a heck of a lot more reliable than those RED grommet door stops. At least you could drive the Blue grommet equipped vehicles off the car lot.
Red module installed on many FoMoCo vehicles sold new in CA. Friend bought a new 1978 Cougar from Beverly Hills L/M, drove it home, it quit in his driveway. Called AAA, had it towed back to Beverly Hills.
Several days later he called me waaa, boo hoo, ma-ma, woe is me...oh what can I do, BHLM said they're waiting for new modules.
I told him to swing on by, as I had a coupla extra users.
Well I'm done messing with it, it's on CL now whole for $800 or I start parting it out this weekend. Already have a $200 offer on bed so I think I can make my money back quick. Thanks for the help though.
*interesting note, it came with the original 79 title. That was neat to see
