I just put my 400 back together with a manual choke Holley 600 on top. It's a re-manufactured carb fresh out of the box. I'm getting fuel into the carb, but none to the intake. Fuel sprays out of the inlet when I loosen it and it flows out of the bowl when I loosen the screws. The needle is not adjustable. . .I don't think. What's my next plan of attack?
Thanks for your time in advance-
What is the list number on the front right side of choke horn? Does the side of the bowl has a site screw in it? If so, remove it and see if fuel comes out. It should be just below the hole and slosh out if you rock the truck side to side.
Thanks for getting back to me. I sorted it out already. I took the front bowl off and cleaned it out. Seemed to do the trick. For the last week it's been running great. Immediate throttle response and chirping tires through all gears. Today, however, it is bogging just a bit during acceleration and seems to be lacking all the ***** it had last week. Should I start looking at fuel supply again? Timing? I put a cam in it when I was rebuilding and had the heads milled as well. It built up fine and it really was running tip top.
Do you have a good inline fuel filter on it? Holleys are very sensitive to dirt and even the smallest debris can cause issues. Also, make sure the distributor is tight. I have seen them vibrate around and retard the timing if not properly tightened.
