I have a 1974 f250 4x4 and I need to know what wires go to what spades/terminals in the back of the ignition switch. Someone decided it would be a good idea to cut all the wires to the switch instead of unplugging it, so now I get to straighten it out.. I have done a lot of searching and have found wiring diagrams, but I can't find anything helpful enough to hook up the switch.. What color wires hook to what spades? If there is a post about this already, please link it. I have been looking for the last few days with no definitive results.. Thanks in advance..
Wow fast response, thank you! That helps me with the yellow (power) and the black w/green stripe.
Also, I don't know if it makes much of a difference, but my truck has a 4 speed manual in it. Not sure if that would make a difference with a neutral-safety or anything like that.
Hahaha, ironically enough, I bought the truck from a guy named "Jim Collins" Those pictures help with the black and yellow wires, but the others are still a mystery.. Mine also has a brown wire under the dash, and I don't see one in those pics.
I looked at the factory wiring diagrams for the '73, '74, and '76. All show the same wiring and none have a brown wire. Don't know where that one goes.
I have a '75 that's a parts donor for my project. I went out this morning and unpluged the switch harness....BINGO! There's a brown wire. It connects to the same terminal as the heavy black w/ green stripe wire.

Ha Ha, how about that. Okay everybody, it was NOT me,ha ha. --I know a couple of more in my area and i get there bills some times. Maybe i need to start using my first name, accept i don't like it.
Unless you moved to the Missouri/Iowa border by a little town called Bradyville, no it was not you
Well i drove in to southern Mo. once and looked in the phone book for my gramps address ,who has the same name. I found one full page of Jim or James Collins, plus all of the others . So i had to start asking around .
The one at bradyville may be related, sounds like something one of my relatives would do. L.O.L.....
Well the guy I bought the truck from didn't do any work to it. He bought it and put it in a Quonset shed for around 8 years (he thinks, he wasn't sure how long it had sat there). He said he literally unloaded it off the trailer all those years ago to the same spot it was sitting in when I went to look at it. Talk about a true barn find The previous owners before him had painted it rattle-can black, and did all the other hack-job work on it.
Hey Brandon, here are the new pictures of the ignition switch wiring. The brown wire goes to the red w/ green stripe wire, not the black w/ green stripe like I originally said. Once I cleaned the dirt off the "brown" wire, it was black.
I really appreciate you taking the time to update me Mike, thank you. I did eventually get mine figured out. I ended up using the wiring loom out of another truck. I must have done something right, my truck will start up anyways
