need help asap

hey guys im trying to do the super duty belt upgrade mod on my 97 psd, i cant get the old two pullys off? how do i get them off? really need help gotta work in the am? also my vacuum pump pully i cant seem to press it off with the kit i bought? is there a trick or somthing i can do?????

any help would be great

Ive used a air ratchet for the idler pulley, as for the vaccum pump pulley I use the smaller puller to fit in there and it works great.

I just did this belt upgrade. The pulleys should just unbolt off of there. IIRC, they are torx head bolts. Are they that tight you can't get them? Is that what you are saying?

No help at all on the puller without seeing what you are doing. Sorry.

when i put the socket on the smooth pulley nut and crank it, the whole base moves like its spring loaded?

Is the pulley you are talking about on the vaccum pump or is it the idler pulley etc?

idler pulley, just found out there a seperate attachment for the vaccume pump

Its a 50 torx head bolt and sounds like your on the outer arm of the tensioner. Use the torx wrench on the 'other' end.

He was saying you were on the wrong part of the tensioner. You were on the tensioner part, not the mount.

I hope you got it.

What is the super duty belt mod? Also If I remeber right the tensioner has revesed threads?

I just installed all new idler pullies a few months ago so I'm just gonna skip this mod for now.

That's what I did Doug but after a few years it started wearing the belt on the edge again like before so I finally did the double pulley mod. So far my belt is wearing even.
