Door actuator, for those who have pulled them out and fixed them, does the through arm move from one end (half circle) to the other when giving it a open and a close.
On mine the drivers door, when giving it an open moves about 3/4 of the way up the circle. Which seems correct. But, when I give it a close, it only seems to move about half as much as it did from the open position in the opposite way. I'm trying to make sure the lock arm is moving correctly before I reinstall it.
Also, I can not move the lock arm at all from the rest position (middle of the circle) by hand in either direction. Is this normal?
Also, does anyone know if the up/down lever is suppose to have slop in it. I haven't read anywhere on any of the write ups if it does or not. I'm thinking it should but I'm trying to make sure. Thanks.
I just replaced all four on my '99 truck for about $65+ship. I don't know if it supposed to move by hand, but all of mine moved well and from stop to stop. I thought I busted one, then realized it wouldn't move because of how I was holding it forced it to stay in one position.
The lock should moved the same in both directions, or it probably won't lock/unlock like you want. Now for the I can't see what you're doing questions:
Is it sitting inside the door handle hole while your testing it, or did you pull the wire to the inside for testing?
If you try to move it from where the physical door lock wire is, can you move that location? Those should be all part of the same plate that controls the door lock.
I have removed and I'm holding in my hand the two actuators. I have one actuator that the lever has slop and the other one does not. The one with the slop moves up and down about 3/4" to 1" and the other one doesn't have any slop at all. They both move up and down when hooked up and the switch is pushed open or closed. So other than the slop they now work fine.
I'm glad they work for you. Hopefully someone who has repaired/replaced more of them can answer about the slop, because I don't really know much past what I just had to do.
Thanks for the reply. I went down to the local auto parts store and checked what they have on the shelf. The actuators do not have any slop in them. Ill have to pull it all the way apart now to see whats going on with it.
