I have a 1995 Bronco with 351 winsor engine, It runs like garbage and someone told me that it sounds like because the temp guage shows its always cold that it makes the computer think its to cool to open the EGR. My question is, Where is the temp sending unit and the temp sensor located. Thanks Wayne
First thing to do is pull codes, don't just throw parts at it.
Just because the check engine light is not on doesn't mean it doesn't have codes stored.
The temperature gauge sending unit and the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor are two entirely separate devices. If the gauge never registers the problem is with the temperature sender or the gauge itself NOT the ECT sensor. Follow Raleigh1's advice and pull Codes before replacing anything.
For reference purposes, the temperature sending unit for the gauge is in the lower intake manifold behind and to the driver's side of the water neck. It has a single wire electrical connection. The ECT sensor is in the coolant tree near the water neck. It has a 3-wire electrical connection.
