I have a 1994 e350 with coachmen catalina body here in France. The abs light has stayed on twice over the last year but has gone out when restarting. Now it stays on so off with the front wheels and the sensors cleaned and the hub gears cleaned of grease and dust.Still stays on!. Any thoughts on where my next checks should be bearing in mind I am along way from the USA and French Ford mechanics run when they see a real American Ford. Thanks.
You might have better luck finding your answer in the van subforum as this one is for the pickup trucks.
I don't know about the vans but on the trucks when the abs light is on it could be any number of things. If the brakes don't feel soft or you don't notice any other symptoms try bleeding the brakes, the trucks have an ABS valve that also needs to be bled after the rear wheels but before the front wheels.
I never have owned one of those vans but this may give you some ideas.
Check all the wires and plastic plugs that have any thing to do with the brakes. Sometimes when not pushed in all the way they make that light turn on.
There is one that goes from the Sensor located on the Rear End. Replace that Sensor if you want to spend some money.
Also, there should be one running from the Master Cylinder. I broke my connector off a few months back and if I ever do any work under the hood it pulls the wire out of the socket a little and causes the ABS light to come on.
This often happens with a VSS going bad Vehicle Speed Sensor. Another symptom of the problem will be a bouncy speedometer. Check the rear Differential fluid level and or replace the sensor they're really cheap, and the only electrical component located on the top of the differential.
