I've just disassembled the front suspension on a very new to me 1993 F150 regular cab long bed. When I removed the brake splash shield from the spindle there was a very worn seal behind it. Now that I am ready to reassemble, I can't seem to find a replacement seal. I am assuming that it is an outer wheel bearing seal but can find no info in the Haynes manual or from any other source. My local parts store does not list a seal for this application nor do any of the catalogs I have looked at. Can anyone offer me suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, it is 2wd. Sorry I forgot to mention that. And no, it is not the grease cap. The grease cap fits on the rotor covering the end of the spindle. I am talking about a thin rubber seal that fits between the dust shield/splash shield at the back of the spindle. The shield is screwed (with three screws) to the spindle arm assembly. It is not the bearing seal, that is still tucked up into the rotor awaiting a cleaning and repacking (the existing seal will be tossed and new ones installed when I repack).
Any other thoughts on what this mystery seal is called and where I can get a couple of them?
Thank you again. I called my local dealer and they have ordered the pair for me. The closest ones I could find in stock were two hours away. The new ones should be in in a few days which gives me just enough time to finish everything else up before I put the rotors back on.
