Dome Light Question

Hi, I have a 1965 F100 Custom Cab and I can't figure out how the dome light is activated. It was probably there at one time, but I completely dissambled the truck and redid everything so I'm on my own now.

I guess it could be on the door or on the headlight switch just not sure.

Anyone know?

Turn the headlight switch all the way left.

Yes, headlight switch activated.

I have seen a few trucks converted to door switches. I did this on my 64 "Christine"

Always an extra wire!

Thanks Garbz,

That means there's an extra wire in there somewhere,

Courtesy lamps were a rarely seen option for these trucks, there were two different types.

Single courtesy lamp mounted under dash-center. Toggle switch attached to lamp body. Same lamp used on 1960/64 full sized Ford Station Wagons.

Two courtesy lamps: Mount under dash at extreme Right/Left ends. Door buttons fit into A pillar, lamps activated when door is opened.

If the bed is painted white above the side mouldings, inside the bed is supposed to be painted all white, not tu-toned.

In fact, there were no tu-toned beds...ever.

The bed inside is supposed to be white?

What? Oh come on. The entire bed inside is supposed to be white if the truck is two-tone?

It wasn't white when I got it and the paint was all original.

Are you sure Bill (wow, I can't believe I just asked you if you were sure - I am certain that will excite a response)

My 65 is two tone. Tropical turquoise (I think) ,Wimbledon white , inside bed is tropical turquoise under a layer the wrong green used on a respray.
Hmmm.

OOPS! Just checked again. My inside of bed is white on the sides. But the wheel wells and bed are turquoise.

Didn't mean to hijack. Sorry.

Bill, You are mistaken in that there were no tu-toned beds. This '65 Is still original paint and looks just like posters. I have had two other original paint trucks and they were the same way.

We both know that is the correct paint pattern/combo on box.

Looks like you've got a sweet one two!

Damn Boss9F100,

Is that your truck. Sweetness!

When I'm all done, I hope to post some better pictures. I did a flattening agent in the clearcoast so it looks like the paint is a bit oxidized. I used all original parts when I could (couldn't find an original dash so reluctantly had to use a reproduction). Even got the original fabrics for the seats and reused the panel with the Ford emblem stamped in it.

I need one more hubcap (that I'm closing in on) and a horn (my original was frozen) and then she is complete.

Taking her to Idaho.

Here's a pic of a couple of Studebakers (1941 and 1946 M15s) that I just had delivered to the ranch. They look like they have been there forever.

Is that a beauty ring on the rims?

Boss9F100,

Are those beauty rings I see on your wheels? Or is it just a reflection of the paint?

What do you think about beauty rings? I'm not sure.
