Electric window problem

I never have any luck in search. so I am asking here.
On two occasions now, after sitting all night or longer, I have started my truck(2003) and tried to roll down the windows. Nothing works on either side.
I played with the buttons a little bit and all of a sudden they start working.
After that, they work fine the rest of the time that day.
This only started happening yesterday and today.
Any ideas appreciated.

My driver side window has started acting up lately. Every once in a while the button does nothing, or I can hear the window trying to roll up again after it's already up. I think it may be my switch going out, but that's just a guess on my part.

My 02 F-250 did the same thing. I found some diagrams and never figured out how to jumper the switch and confirm that it was the switch. At least all of the other windows have 2 switches, one one that door and one on the drivers door. I found a switch on e-bay and ordered it. It died the night before the mail carrier showed up with it. The whole panel is replaced as one unit. The price is fairly reasonable and it took all of 10 minutes to change it. There is a tab right at the front of the panel. Just slip a screwdriver right under the tip of the panel to release the tab and pull up. There are 3 connectors. I think I found the Part Number on the switch. Otherwise I can look mine up for you. The mail carrier brought mine and as she was leaving my wife walked out to ask when I would change it and I said it is done.

Oddly, today they both worked fine, from first start of the morning.

Electric window problem

If nothing works on either side it has to be in the power supply. Maybe thecooling or something causes a connection problem in a connection in the power source. I don't remember the circuit off of the top of my head but I have a schematic in a manual I will research it and see if I can suggest a possibility. Is yours a 2door vehicle?

Hager3: Thanks, I believe I may have the schematic. I just haven't taken the time to start the search. It has been so humid here, it just might be a corroded switch.
So far it is intermittent, and will be hard to fine.
Thanks to all who have responded. Jim

does your radio quit same time as the windows?
When I first get in mine and start it sometimes the windows wont work and the radio doesnt work?
Drive a few feet and everything starts working.

I had a sim prob on my 99 F250 ! Window would work fine for days and then just quit? always with the window down and gonna rain!! Turned out to be a bad spot on the motor armature. If it stopped on the bad spot it quit! Sort of like Russian Roulette!!

I had this same issue, unplugged and replugged in all of the window switches, checking contacts and what not, when I got to the driverside, thats was the plug that seemd to not be making. Havent had an issue since, knock on wood.

Same thing here in my '03 7.3L...windows and radio both dead. Was infrequent, but happening more often now - occasionally, just starting the window down prior to cranking the engine will do it. Figure I will start with the switches and then head for relay(s) if necessary.

Just joined FTE today and I have to say you guys are the real deal! Thanks.

THe power all runs through the driver side, if you have a meter, start there. Good Luck.
