Had a funny one tonight

I'm sitting at the computer surfing FTE tonight and I get an email from fellow FTEr FortyNiner, who happens to live in the next town over to the east of me, about 10 miles. I've been wanting to get together with him since he joined but just haven't made the time.

He asks if I was on a training mission in the Watertown area on Hwy CW. Watertown is about 40 miles to the SW of me. In fact I was, we went to a party in town about another 15 miles to the west. He just happened to be sitting in his sister's yard in Watertown and saw a red F-2 rumble by and wanted to know if it was me. It had to be unless there's another red '49 F-2 in the area. After all this time we came within about 50 feet 40-50 from our homes. Now I thought that was kind of funny

Bob,

Sometimes its a very small world.

You never can tell when you're going to run into a fellow FTE'er. A few weeks ago I was on my motorcyle across town and pulled up to an intersection, a truck (not Ford related) a little ahead of me in the next lane sort of looked familiar. I honked a time or two to get the driver's attention, sure enough it was Albuq F1. It's always good to see a friend

My wife is a school bus driver. I'm amazed how often we're some place and someone yells out her name. I'm not talking about local places close to home, that happens almost on a weekly basis, I'm talking about far away places. We've been out of state and had a kid or parent of a kid yell her name quite a few times. I guess it's the amount of people you know.

LOL....at least they are yelling out her name and not cussing at her....

My wife is a school teacher, she gets the random kid running up to her here and there also

Bob, I'm just glad your wife waved at us using all five fingers on one hand.

Was good to 'see' you ripping up the backroads. The F2 was moving along purty nice.

LOL....

Its true, I have a bicycle bell mounted on my Road King. My kids gave me the big boy bell for my big boy bike as a gag gift. I went ahead and mounted it to the handlebars.
Its great! gets lots of attention.

My '79 Low Rider has a bell too! My son-in-law gave it to me. It's a Fat Tire bell! I also mounted it on the handlebars. Little kids (and I) love hearing it when I'm stopped at an intersection. Any other time, it really can't be heard over the pipes...

I would almost guarantee all of you can relate to this--When I drive down the road with my family, they've all become accustomed to me suddenly almost gasping and braking hard while I'm turning my head to one side or the other. They usually don't even look up and say something "He probably saw an old truck."

Bob, I know what you mean about people recognizing your wife. A lot of people recognize me, but I can't hold a candle to my brother. He used to work in an auto parts store, and he still fools around with dirt late model racing. I'm convinced that we could go to the north pole and somebody would yell out his name.

Just a follow up to this original post, Duane and I have finally met in person. We actually got closer than 50 feet. Duane came to my house with his F-1. It was cool watching the little black F-1 coming down the road in front of my house. We sat around for about an hour or so talking trucks.

Here's the obligatory picture to prove we actually finally met. I even wore my Truckstock shirt for the occasionon. I never wear the shirt unless it's a special event.
