I have noticed that on my 2012 5.0 Screw that the A/C isn't very cold. It is no where near as cold as my last truck, or any of a number of late model cars I have driven. If it's over 85 and I have it set to auto (70 degrees) it will never get there and just run full tilt the whole day. Even if you select Max A/C and blow it on you you will never have to turn the fan down from being cold as in other cars.
I've seen several people complaing on other F150 forums about the AC in their trucks not being cold enough. A lot of those people have been told by the dealer that their system is in specs so they can't do anything.
However, my AC must be an exception because mine blows cold. I can only stand it on Max A/C for so long before I have to turn it down. Mine blows @ 38.4* on Max A/C and around 40* on regular ac.
I don't use the auto setting but manual max air in 107 day I can hang meat. I keep it at 65.
First truck I have owned that keeps cooling while parked a long time. Usually start warming after extended idling.
And I do love my cooled seats.
My "11" Scab 5.0 isnt very cold either. My 05 6.0 was alot cooler. Did they change coolant again to make it more eco friendly? It cooles it down to make it comfortable but takes awhile to do it.
My a/c does not feel as cold as the a/c in my wife's 2000 Toyota but I also believe it has to do with the color of the dashboard (black) and the fact that on super hot days it takes a while to cool down the cab when the inside is already 130+ and you may only be driving for 25 minutes or so. I may take a temp reading of the dashboard tomorrow when its 90 all day and my truck is parked in the sun for 8 hours. I'll bet the number is astonishing.
My wife has a white car with tan interior. My truck is sterling gray with gray/black interior. Definitely absorbs more heat.
When my truck has been sitting in the sun it helps to roll down the windows when I first take off. Mine gets cold a lot quicker when I let the heat out than it does with just the A/C alone. My A/C does well considering my truck is black on black.
A/C in mine works great. It's a big area to cool too.
I noticed if I hit the button and open the rear slider about an inch, as I'm going down the road, more air will move around the cab.
Mine blows @ 38.4* on Max A/C and around 40* on regular ac.
Wow, that's cold! I always thought they were designed to stay around 48* discharge temp. Overcharging and undercharging of refrigerant can cause varying results. I don't know if they actually weigh the charge into vehicles or not, but it may be something to look into...check pressures, temps, etc.
On my 2012 fx4 supercab, after about an hour on the road, we are down to lowest fan speed and recirc is off, when you step out of the truck on steamy 95 degree days your eyeglasses fog up for a minute or two, I would think the charge is not corect or a blend door is feeding heater core air to your vents, just a guess.
Mine gets cold. I run max a/c on 60 degrees. It does take a little while to cool it down though but think about how big the cabs are on these trucks. From 100+ degrees in the sun to cold where i have to turn it down takes about 15 mins.
