After our 223 got a little warm in the 93 degree 90% humidity yesterday, we decided it was time to replace the upper/lower hoses, heater hoses and thermostat. I swear they look original and the ends of the heater hoses literally crumbled in my hands. Still had the original clamps too.
On the lower hose, the hose is actually cut into 2 pieces and there is a metal union between the 2 hoses and it has what looks like a port coming out of it. What is this part and is it needed??? replacement shows just a 1-piece lower hose.
The port is not hooked to anything and has some pretty severe corrosion on the inside.
215/223/262s had one-piece lower radiator hoses. Not sure about the FordOMatic provision.
The stock upper hose was in three pieces. There's the main tube made out of metal and two pieces of rubber hose on top and bottom holding the metal tube in place.
