Yup, actually thinking about parting out my truck. What do you all think? Might just be my frustration coming out, but being curious. BTS trans, T-500, 05-07 front end, thats just the beginning. Do have a bicycle to get me around...pedal power.
if the motor & drivetrain is ok id fix it its just sheet metal, now is time to do a custom paint job . if it totaled buy it back and talk to a body shop new trucks are big bucks and you know this truck my 2 cents where are you ? if your on the east side of the country i could help ya maybe.
Ya man, like Wes said, if the frame aint tweeked, or fan pushed into the motor, its just metal work. If it is a "total loss" to the insurance, get paid off, buy ur back for the 500 buks, then hit up a body shop. Think, either way, there wont be any $$$ outta ur pocket...BUT, if you do part her, i want the t-500..sorry couldnt resist.
Don't part it out, Don't let the crook win... Get her back up to her former glory. You have a gorgeous truck that you put a lot of your time into.
It deserves a second chance.

Don't part it out if it's just body work. Heck, check out Smokiesman's gut-wrenching "ooooops," and his truck now. You'd never know anything happened with it. The truck looks great. As long as the truck runs fine, you'd be crazy to lose your investment like the BTS Tranny, etc. over a couple grand worth of body work. Especially if the insurance will pay for it.
Will try and fix the truck. Only had liability. Need to find a new place to live first...trouble on the home front.
That sucks. Sorry to hear.
I don't suppose they caught the guys who stole it? If they do, and by some chance those guys have auto insurance, or homeowners insurance, you can go against them for the money to fix it up.
Since it still drives, you can just replace the ignition for now and drive it dented up until you're on your feet a little better. You could also keep your eyes open for a deal on a truck with a blown motor and then just transplant all your goodies over to the new body.

I agree with Chris, heed this man's advice and fix your truck.
It'll take time, but you'll have your truck back better than you did before. You have plenty of great resources to help you do it too. Don't let the theif win by you parting it out, fix YOUR truck, and start enjoying it again.
Remember, there are others on FTE that weren't as fortunate as you and would give anything for the chance you have now.
