Yes, had it fixed at Lee's. He seems to know his stuff, but I believe he is just swamped with work and it takes a while to get stuff done. Fortunately, I'm not dependent on the truck for work, etc. so I could just share my wife's car. Just got a little frustrating after it being there for nearly 4 weeks (between the axle rebuild and the HPOP issue).
Lee's a great guy and knows his stuff. He did knock a couple hundred off the price of the HPOP to compensate me for the delay.
That was nice of him to do. It's nice to know that their is still some small mechanics who actually care and feel bad when they can't figure it out.
glad you got it fixed.
i just had the same thing happen to me my 450 would not start hot, i worked for a month then found it was the hpop was weak.
That actually makes me feel better. At least my shop figured that out in a few days instead of a month. I'd really be having withdrawals.
Total bill was $1252.28, of which 350 was labor (5 hours @ 70). Discounting taxes, that leaves about 825 for parts. Add up the cost of an HPOP, ICP and IPR, along with new connectors for each. All in all, came out pretty good.
I will give kudos to the shop, considering how long it had been in there and what all was done to it - there were no black, greasy handprints on the body or interior anywhere. When I looked under the hood, the power steering fluid that had belched out of the loose cap on the pump was cleaned up, the valley was dry, everything was spotless.
