I have a 2003 F250, 5.4L, 4x4, with 101,000 miles. I've had it since new and today I go to start it and it was very slow to crank over. It was barely cranking but then caught and started. Upon starting the tachometer and speedometer both went all the way to the right and then back down. Truck drove home fine from work (20 minute drive) and I parked it. I just went to start it now and the same thing as earlier this afternoon, very slow crank and then she caught and started.
Does this sound like the battery is done?
I was amazed a few years ago that the battery had lasted so long and then forgot about it.
Probably the battery. The gauges usually do a full sweep like that when the pcm/ecm resets due to loss of power. You got plenty of years out of the battery, I would get a new one.
I still have the original battery in my 04' and I should replace it soon I guess. It is still showing green on the indicator and works great but it is getting old. I always kept the terminals clean and the water/acid level filled so I guess that is a plus. Part of me wants to see how long it will go.

Yeah I think the battery is done, just checked it and it's at 10.5 volts. I'm gonna pull it out tomorrow and get a new one. Thanks for commenting on the gauges doing a full sweep, I didn't know that and feel better knowing why.
