I have an 02 F350 Super Duty and the clockspring went out. Do I have to replace the whole assembly or can I just replace the spring? Also, could I go to a salvage yard and part it out from an F250/350 of another year or does it strictly have to be an 02? Thank you to anyone that can help me! My inspection sticker is out so I need my horn fixed!!
I had my clockspring go on my 94 f-150 and had the mechanic doing the inspection re-wire the horn to a door bell ringer they installed by the steering wheel. It was the cheaper option and the truck was lucky if it got driven 1000 miles a year so it worked for me.
I'm not completely sure of it, but I believe that the clocksprings are going to be the same between 1999-2004. But remember that the clockspring is different for trucks with cruise control than those without. You can buy a brand new clockspring for around $85 from www.tousleyfordparts.
Thank you guys for your help with the clockspring suggestions. It was an easy fix. Had all the tools except for the steering wheel puller (thank you AutoZone for tha loan). Horn and cruise control work now. Got my inspection sticker!!
