Coming back to the party a little late here, but I agree rear discs are unnecessary. These trucks only weigh about 3000 pounds and the same rear brakes they came with were used through 1967. There's little weight in the back and any increased stopping power from rear discs probably isn't usable, anyway. Adding better braking in the front is always a benefit as that's where the weight transfers to when stopping. And you're already easily at a 60-40 split before inertial forces take over.
The m/c/booster you listed is what you want, except that particular one is for the 53-56. Be sure to get the right one for your application.
At first, I was Johnny IFS or nothing. Then I found this forum, did some research and realized that a disc brake conversion and updated stock front end really was the way to go -- all things considered. Sure, I would love to have an IFS, but it was more important to get her back on the road.
I just ordered the conversion kit a week ago from Mid-Fifty as well as $900 in assorted goodies. Once everything is here, it's off to the shop for the install.
51PanelMan, that's a sweet score! Was that found at the swap meet in Hayward?

Yes, bought it at Hayward, along with a pair of monoleafs.
Normally my friend and I go together to the swap meets in his trucks. He wasn't able to make it that day, so I took my Linoln LS. I wasn't planning on buying anything big or bulky, but couldn't pass it up. Luckily, the back seats in my car fold down and myself, as well as the vendor and his friend, helped me load it inside my car through the trunk.
