What have you guys done, if anything, about the cab floor ribs (depressions) prior to insulating & sound proofing. I see that Mid Fifties sells some sort of filler.
Not going to do anything about the depressions. The more junk you jam into them the more rust you invite. The depressions aren't in an area were they present a problem. JMO.
I have welded in 1 inch wide strips of steel in one cab just to add some structural reinforcement but that was a special case. The only reason that I would fill the channels in on a cab floor would be so that the carpet laid flatter. I have some resin that sets up with the consistency of hard rubber...I think that I will pour that in the channels on my current project.
When I put lizardskin on my floor it kinda filled in the indent you cant feel or see any ripples in he carpet. The carpet also has juking on the back.
You can see some indents after installation of the sound deadner however the capet juking covers them pretty good.

I read in street rodder that one high end rod shop uses plywood on the floor. I don't know if he glues it to the sheet metal but he uses it for the pupose you asked. Levels the floor and has alot of damping.
Wayne I was just wondering if the finished floor material might ripple in those areas.
I would think that would depend entirely on what you plan to use for flooring. If you're going to cover it with a sound deadener and thick carpet with jute backing, like Jaye, you probably won't notice anything or have an issue. If you want a rubber mat on the bare floor, Ford did have a filler in the grooves for a flatter lay. It was a hard rubber substance like a seam sealer.
Personally, once I place insulation, jute backing and carpet over the ribs you never see them. Just my experience. Every cab I have seen that uses filler strips, filler, etc. just seems to be a magnet for rust.
