the truck:
05
f250
6.0 diesel
new bulletproof oil cooler
bulletproof water pump
the problem:
finished up installing the new oil cooler primed the system. went to go and start the truck and nothing. the truck would crank over for a time then i when checked the ficm. it red 47.3 volts checked the wiring and plugs they where all in there tight and secured. went back to try and start it and got a serge and gages started to shake..i had this problem when my driver side battery terminal broke. tested connections and got 12v.
Batteries sound like they may be dead. You say 12vlts, but that could be a "Ghost" charge. (The only way to truly tell would be a load test on each individual batt) As soon as you turn the key, the glow plugs are taking what power the batteries have left. Try charging them. If you had the oil system drained, it will take some cranking to get going. 47vlts isn't great on the FICM, but if your batts are dying it might be that.
