Since we have revived a 9+ year old thread; I guy I worked for about 40 years ago had a small oilfield construction company and in that he had a 35 ton capacity truck mounted crane, which I would guess weighed in around 60-65 thousand pounds. Well, long story short, the crane broke down in the field and said owner towed it in to town about 30 miles with his early ‘80’s F-150, automatic with 351W. Engine in the crane was running so it had air for the brakes. In the low rolling hills of western ND…….nothing big but still not flat.

Perhaps he fell victim to the "endless scrolling" or "related thread" feature (term used very loosely) on the FTE.

There was a spammer who bumped the thread to insert a link to a towing company. We did what we do with those, but the thread lives on.
