Ok guys, time for me to switch up main forum pages lol. I usually hang out in the 80-96 forum, but I need your advice now. I am looking to get back into a diesel, and in all honesty, have spent the past couple years "hating" on 6.0Ls. I'm a mechanic by trade, so I got to always deal with the problems, but the more I worked on them and understand why the things go wrong that do, I find myself really wanting one. I found one online, and have talked with the guy several times in the past week, and I am going to go see it this Thursday. Here's the ad for the truck...... 2005 Ford Powerstroke ....by the way it sounds, most of the big "go wrong" things have already been repaired on this truck......anything in particular I should look for that I might not have thought of yet?
that exactly why I drive one. I understand them, there not really hard to keep on the road.
ask yourself why on eart would Mike and I both drive one all the time if they were that bad, after all no tech like have to work on there own stuff.
It looks right with the lift and tires, definitely comes with some good aftermarket equipment. Would love to get my hands on one of those aux tanks. Good luck if you go for it, I am new and no expert but the guys that have posted really know their stuff. Didn't take long to figure that out
Thanks guys! Cheezit, I've looked through a lot of your and Bismics stuff, and it has been pretty helpful, both with reinforcing the things I've found and helping to point a couple new weak points/strengths out.....I'm by no means a seasoned master tech, I still have to get a/c and performance engines to get my master tech ase status, but you're right, no tech/mech likes really working on their own stuff lol
Ok, well that truck didn't end up working out.......the guy sold it last saturday, and I wasn't even approved for my loan until Monday afternoon. HOWEVER..........in my searches around town (and surrounding cities), I did find this lil gem. She's a 2005 F350 King Ranch, beautiful interior, only 114k, well taken care of, ran the vin and found out she'd been stolen for 6 months way back in '05, but if anything, the only thing they took was the original stereo, since there's an aftermarket one in now........automatic, decent (ish) tires. Ran her around Pasco, WA on the freeway for a bit....oil temp/coolant temp delta was only 5 or less degrees.....48.32 volts at the FICM.....picked her up for $19,500 and I had them throw in the first tank of Diesel....I love my new truck.....thanks to everyone on this forum for helping me know what to look for in more detail
Thanks I like her.....actually no, I have access to a Genesys EVO scan tool (the $6800 handheld scantool we have at work) that I took with me to go truck shopping. It will tell me almost anything/everything as far as sensor readouts, temps, etc. With the info you guys gave me here, from then on it was just reading the screen
