[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Sep-02 AT 11:55 PM (EST)]I have a unbalanced tire like vibration begining a 55mph on up through 75mph. it is not rpm sensitive and only in 3rd and OD.I have went through 6 tire balances, one set of 4 wheel and tire changes, driveshaft and universal joints checked, shocks replaced, transmision fluid check and computer diagnostic.
The only thing I can find slightly wrong is the rear end is slightly hot but with no sound. The truck has long tube headers with aftermarket cats, 15inch 60"s T/A radials with the electronic overdrive trans with the button on the shift. I have been told by my mechanic to drive it till something goes out. HELP!
try checking the front wheel bearings for correct end play. I had one that the bearing race had spun inside the hub and caused that tire out of balance feeling. You could also check if the weights are still on the rear drums. if one of these comes off this could also cause a vibration.
I agree. I replace my front wheel bearings every 2yrs. if a bearing seizes, it could score the shaft it rides on (cant remember it's name), and that is an expensive repair
