Brewing your own beer
Is anyone else into home-brewing? I am nearly done drinking the first 5-gallon batch and it came out excellent. I made a Racer 5 IPA clone and my girlfriend and I both loved it. Next I'm making a Hop Rod Rye clone as soon as a couple of the harder to find hop varieties get here. After that I'm going to do a Pliny the Elder clone, which is one of the hoppiest beers out there.

Love the Pliney. Thats all I get at the alehouse. Twice a year they release (small amt) of Pliney the" younger". Its like 10 bucks a draw with a limit of 2. See if you can find that up there. I barter deer salami with a local supplier here so I`ll ask here for you, if you like.

I've dabbled in it in the past, but haven't done much lately. Truth is, I hate bottling. So, last year, we bought a second fridge to stick down in the basement, and once I swing the budget, I'm going to install a dual tap setup so that I can have 2 corny kegs on tap. Then, even if I don't have any homebrew, I can have a local brewery fill them for about $60 (not bad for 5 gal of beer). So far, I've only brewed pre-assembled kits (with un-hopped malt extract), but I do want to get to the point where I'm coming up with my own recipes, but not necessarily all-grain brewing (that's just a lot of time at the stove!)
