5w-20 Syntec Blend
Syntec is a Group III basestock with about 50 ppm's of moly. The 5w-20 GTX is a blend of Gp III and Gp II+ with about 50 ppm's of moly. Motorcraft does not have the moly but is similiar in basestock with the GTX. Moly only comes into play in EXTREME heat situations when the boundary lubrication is all the protection you have left. Most vehicles will never see this situation. Considering the oils must pass the Sequence IIIF standard, there isn't much room for improvement. Any of the three offers more benefits than a normal Xw-30. Cleaner engine, less deposits, better fuel mileage, higher Viscosity Index , lower oxidation, and less thermal breakdown.

5w-20 Syntec Blend
I am using 5w20 in my '02 Ranger while its under warranty. I decided to use the Castrol GTX as it meets the Ford spec, is easy to find and has some moly. I catch it on sale at Advance for $1.38/qt. and stock up. I feel it will do fine.
