Talking New Owner

Just bought my first 6.0 last week. Ive owned powerstrokes before but this would be new grounds for me. I dont wanna do anything major until its paid off. It already has MBRP exhaust and an AFE intake. Is there anything else I could do to gain some performance without really altering the truck or engine? Thanks in advance

Get rid of the aftermarket intake & go back to stock. It'll save your turbo.

^^^what he said,

May be look into a Scan Guage and a coolant filter to start light. There are no real "cheap" or "minor" mods on a 6.0 unfortunately LOL, but guages and a coolant filter are a good start, change the oil and fuel filters and give the trans a flush so its got a fresh start and you know what your dealing with.

I'll add put a blue spring in the fuel pressure regulator if it doesn't all ready have one. Not expensive and could help the injectors live longer. I also agree on the factory air filter. It one of the thing Ford got right on these trucks. Flows well and excellent filtering. Not a sexy looking as the aftermarkets but will keep your turbo from getting dusted and no oil to mess up you map sensor.

yep, unless you are in a truck pull this weekend, and
are planning propane injection...

part of performance is not coming back on the
end of a rope. get a scanguage II, or AE, or
something to read your engine info with.

read here a bit before loading up your money gun.
i wished i'd found this forum 3 years ago... it'd saved me

You should check your ficm voltage to make shure the injectors are working with 48 volts & you could have a atlas 40 hp tune that might yield you 1-2 mpg

you guys are so much help. the truck may be tuned. not to sure. it has been to innovative diesel in elkton, md which is 20 miles from me. i know the guy eric. he has like a 9 second 6.0. i just think the truck picks up and goes a little more than a stock one should. cant see smoke though cause they put the cat and stock dp on for inspection and said they threw the mbrp pipes out.

Depending on Fuel quality in the area. You may want to consider a Cetane boost fuel additive to each tank of gas. Also if you find yourself getting water in fuel lights you may want to get the upgrade HCFM drain (handknob instead of allen key) to prevent stripping out the allen and replacing the fuel drain assb/cover. Ford part number 6efz-9c082-a. Since international made our engine you can also get it from there part #2589259C91
