Purchased ours and was able to pay off in 4 months, and then the mods began. I had friends then asking where we got the money for mods, well that answer was easy, my truck payment every month was like a mod fund instead!!!
I hope to never go in debt for a vehicle again, as the X was our first one paid in full, and man is that a sweet feelin!
I agree about the debt thing. The last 2 vehicles we purchased were used and bought with cash. Havent had an auto note in almost 5 years. As much as having a new vehicle is nice I dont think I will ever buy a new one again. They depreciate too much and if I can get one a few years old in good condition for half the price then good for me. Now the downside is that alot of times you have no warranty but with todays vehicles there arent that many extreme cases of major malfunctions aside from normal wear and tear which isnt covered by warranty anyway. I have learned to tinker around on my trucks and have gained pretty extensive knowledge from this site and just diving in and trying stuff.

There seems to be alot of this "no more payments" business going around, lmbo! It's an awesome feeling!
I'm the same way about vehicles, I'll never buy one new again, especially with the way they are these days. Look below the hood of a 6.4 or 6.7, if something breaks, you better have a warranty or alot of cash.
That's why when I do end up getting some "Brothers and Sisters" for the Ex, it'll be a used Super Duty and/or Excursion equipped with the 6.0 or V10. Why? I know how to work on them like I do my 7.3. If something breaks or needs some attention, all it costs me is my time and money for the parts.
They too will be purchased with cash as opposed to me owing anybody anything. Once you don't have payments, you're spoiled and don't want them at all...
Paid for mine on a credit card and paid off the statement at the end of the month. Now just need to get my trailer AND the house paid off. Refi'ed to a 15 yr. fixed at 3% that took 7 years off my original 30 yr.
I have had since the age of 16 thirty vehicles and of those only 3 were brand new vehicles while the Ex is the only vehicle I have paid off and still have in my possession. The other 2 were traded or sold to pay the note.
Going through my list of past vehicles I see that over half of them were cash purchases or barters.
I am only 43 and that gives me 1.11111111 vehicles per year. Man did I have fun.
Oh and that does not include the 3 Junior Dragsters I had to buy because my son would outgrow each car before the next race season began..
This sickness was courtesy of my father who was a certified car fanatic..
buy used, buy w cash is my motto.
Actually bought my EX very-used (150K on it) for very little money.
Looking at the truck it's been a great purchase. It's in very good shape for a 12 year old truck. Plus rust doesn't exist around here.
