Thats for the 92 and up 460s. I don't see anything about the 89 460 in this write up.
You're right ...then you must look at how your alt. is mounted ...is yours a "V"belt or a serp... I'
m out runnin around town ..I'll be back at my desk soom OK!!!
[QUOTE=mr_malina;12094265]This is a serpentine belt:
Mr Malina, is that a Goodyear Gatorback belt or ? How has it been for service I need to upgrade soon ??? Dave
The belt is neither it is ribbed. I know the difference between v and serp.
does you present alt look like this ...RJM Injection Tech — 8.25 and have a ribbed belt ? The belt Mr Malina showed was most likely Goodyear Gatorback ... a very good serp/ribbed belt with is own special pattern for longer life and better grip, they are kinda $$$ north of $40 most places Dave

That picture is not of my truck... however I am running a Gatorback belt. I could not get bet squeak to go away, I cleaned the pullies really good and tried several brands with no success. I installed the Gatorback and and has not squeaked since, that was about a year ago. It was kinda expensive but worth it for my sanity.

Thanks, that's kinda what I thought... so now I can justify spending the $$$'s on the Gatorback Dave
My serp is a gatorback because it was squeaking everytime i turned and had my ac on. Hasn't done it since. The alternator belt is ribbed like the last picture. I will shoot a picture of the set up.
As I suspected as far as I can tell (you need to measure) you'll need a 8.25" spread alt from a 92 to 95 3.8 Taurus at the JY. when you remove it you need to get as much wiring as you can. Also there will be an inline fuse between the alt and battery... get it too because otherwise you'll need to buy one ... good hunting .. Dave
