I have posted on here before about my truck having a bucking/jerking type feeling when shifting into overdrive. I replaced the external filter and drained oil and replaced. Have driven around town and hasnt seemed to be as bad. Will try and make this short. Went out of town Sat on a 850 mile round trip. Once on the intertate it started. It would buck and jerk once on overdrive at around 60-65mph. Its not consistant. It will be smooth for 5-8 miles and then start again. It does it going up an incline, flat surface and even down an incline no constant pattern. I would pull over so often and check the trans stick, it was full, bright red and smelt of just regular hot trans fluid ( no burnt smell at all). This part is very strange to me but I know it to be factual because I went threw 3 tanks and it did the EXACT same thing evry time. At a 1/4 of a tank left no issuse at all. Truck had power and would NEVER buck once. Smooth the way it should be. Fill it up and boom same thing for 3/4 of a tank.I had my friend come by with a Solus Pro diagnostic machine and this what I got and hot operating tempand dead idle. fuel press 100%, egr 32% (after about 5 mins went to 0 then back up to 38%,high oil press 3985,injec 0, batt 12.9 and never moved if given throttle and the trans checked out good. The only thing Ive done to the truck is put a FICM that i bought off ebay about a year ago. For some reason my programmer wouldnt work no more after that until I got upgraded version off computer. (diablo sport set one above econ) (no guages)Thats all I got. This thing is driving me crazy. I go out of town alot and need this truck.Im just throwing everything out to yall thats goin on to hopefully solve this. Thanks in advance.
Similar problem here after driving it for about 2 hours at steady highway speeds. I pull over turn off the truck, start it up and continue for another hour or 2 before it happens again. Took it to 2 different dealers now (twice) and they cannot find/duplicate the problem. Been a year and a half and I gues I just gotta wait til something craters before I fix it.
Yeah its soo frustrating would just like to find the problem/problems and get it over. Im not even sure if those numbers off the scanner are what they are supposed to be at idle.
No I haven't. I'm not very dealer friendly and work on my own stuff. Not sure what eles they could pull up other than the Solus Pro. Not sure if it was a good idea or not but we did reset the cam setting. The guy said the truck would relearn the way I drive or something to that nature. Not sure on how all that works.
I am not a fan of the dealers either but I will say this... the certified Ford Diesel mechanics are usually light years ahead of the mom-and-pop shops when it comes to these trucks and diagnosing problems. I have tried the cheaper alternatives and if it's something I cannot fix myself it usually goes to Ford. Some of these generic mechanic shops don't even care/know what kind of fluids they put in your ride and as you can tell by what has been written in this forum.... a little screw-up like that can be pretty costly!
Fuel pressure at 100% must be default for the solus as thee is no sender or data for fuel pressure on the truck. Also, high side oil pressure is very high if taken at idle. Should have been 5-6 hundred psi - max operating value is 4045. IPR is open by default and closed to increase pressure. Normally they fail open with low high side oil pressure but I guess it's possible for it to be stuck in a closed position by a piece of trash. I would verify fuel pressure with a gauge and look at IPR/ICP again. If you could post #'s you get key on engine off, idle, and at 2500 rpm. Some of the guys here are pretty good at guessing what the issue might be.
On the solus it said the high pressure was within the range of normal I believe the range indicated was 3800-4100 psi. As far as fuel pressure could u give me a idea where to put the gauge in the fuel system for a reading?

Read the thread below.....the sending unit goes in the fuel pressure test port.

I will go ahead with reluctance and get it checked at the dealer. If it were a piece of trash in there what's the best solution to get it clear? Change oil?
