Electrical issue?

Yesterday and again this morning my truck was acting strangely, completely different both times.

Yesterday, I grabbed lunch, went back to the parking lot, turned the key waited a second, went to start it, nothing, all the gauges, power windows, radio, everything was off, no power, I cycled the key a few times, no power to anything in any key position. Had a volt meter checked some random things under the hood, good for 12v couldn't figure it out. My buddy said make sure it’s in park, which should not at all make a difference, it may not start out of park, but that doesn’t turn the power off to everything. so I pushed it in park to make him happy, next time I cycled the key, I had power, started up as normal, coincidence, idk. drove another 40 miles throughout the day, had it off, started again fine, and that was that. edit Also, my cd player had reset to factory settings, as if that battery died or was unhooked.

Now this morning, it started fine went to go, and it wouldn’t leave 2nd gear, drove it that way doing half the speed limit for 4-5 miles then it all of a sudden shifted to 3 and od no problem and was ok the rest of the way to work.

Any Thoughts??

Do you use the tilt wheel much? It has been know to bent the wires in the column until the copper conductors inside the insulation break and don't make a good connection until you jiggle them.

There still could be some wiring issues in there.
I'd check it out if I were you.

Alright, il have to check it out.

But how would that make the power locks not work, which work regaurdless the key position, or the power to the my radio to turn off so I had to reprogram all my stations, or the shifting issue?

I duno about your shifting issue, but I have an issue with my windows and locks not working because of a wire in my door, but it doesn't effect anything else.

I pulled it apart, couldn't' find anything wrong, so I dont know what you tell ya.

Yeah the truck acted like the batterys were disconected, but i was getting 12v at the soleniod on the pass fender. it wouldnt hurt to clean the connections and tighten them i suppose. Im plannin on drivin this to Carlisle n a couple weekends, only a 5-6 hour drive, but i just don't want to deal with any issues then. no problems this morning on the way to work though.
