I have a 93 Bronco XLT that has been acting really strange lately. There are two problems which I think are probably related. This morning, I started it and all of the electrical systems were out. The windows, power locks, air, radio, lights (inside and out), and I some of the stuff with the automatic transmission werent working. The tranny was clunking and grinding and would upshift and downshift really hard. I didn't want to but I had to drive it while it was doing that, I had to go to work. But after work when I had let it sit for a while, it was fine, everything turned on and it drove great. The other problem is that sometimes when I start the engine, it will die instantly. If I give it some gas, I can keep it going, but as soon as I let off, it'll die again. I've also had to drive it like this, and its really hard, I have to keep a foot on the gas even while im stopping. I've taken it to a garage but they couldn't find any problems and told me to bring it back when it started acting up again, but of course, I'm never any where near them when it happens. This problem will fix itself after a sitting a while too. I have no idea what could cause any of these problems so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I think that the guages were working. Also, the engine, ingnition, battery, and the wiring to and from the battery have all been replaced in the last 6 months.
just a poke in the dark. maybe your key switch isnt releasing all the way and the power isnt restoring to all the devices like it should. try wiggling the key and see if this makes every thing work. when you turn the key to start it will cut power to everything except the starter and the ignition.and when you release it everything will again have power.
