When I upgraded my software to v10, I believe they uninstalled the existing version and then reloaded the new. However I am not 100% positive since I took my laptop in to their offices and they set it up for me. It took a while and I think I remember them saying that is what they did. They also gave me a new activation number as well....
When I have talked to the folks at AE, they always recommend removing the old software first. Congrats Richard on winning that AE Bundle!
Thanks Ken, Yea I kinda found that out, I installed the software and then went to the control panel and looked in the Programs and features and both were there and only one would start the 10.2 ver. so uninstalled the older ver. and ended up repairing the new ver. But all is good will give it a whirl tomorrow. And it was real good to get to meet you, Thanks for all your input with AE.
I wish I hadn't upgraded my AE to v10....that security dongle is a pain. I have much more connectivity issues now than ever before, especially when the battery gets low on my laptop. I also have issues with extended sessions...it seems like it automatically logs me off after 20-30 minutes. Kinda frustrating.
I wouldn't mind the security dongle if it wasn't 3 inches long. Really with all the tech today they couldn't use a 1" USB dongle or even a micro SD card. Could just put that in my almost non existent card reader.

I ran into this on many levels. My cures:
I plug my netbook into my ungrounded AC adaptor for long runs. My netbook was programmed to go into sleep mode after a while on batteries.
Go into the laptop/netbook/pad and set the screensaver to none, then set the power-down settings to not shut down until a low battery percentage.
Once the computer is squared away and you are logging data, don't change any settings on the software until you want to stop logging. Changing software settings (in many cases) closes the log session.

Thanks for the tips. I think I have my settings adjusted like you describe for when running on battery power but it's worth checking again.

Absolutely nothing. There are no new features or bug fixes for the 7.3 diagnostics. If you call AE they will say the new version has cylinder balance test but they are mistaken....it's the same CCT test as the earlier versions.
The only reason I upgraded at all was because I added the GM Enhanced bundle to my software so I got the security dongle by default. Kinda a bummer but I needed the GM bundle so I was sorta stuck between a rock and a hard place (so to speak...)
