I started a blog for fun doing reviews on bourbon & rye, cocktail recipes, and eventually recipes for BBQ sauce and other things you can cook with whiskey. Check it out. You can subscribe by entering your email at the top.
Please pass it along to anyone who may enjoy it.
Have you ever heard of "Woodinville"? Costco had this kit (neat barrel got me) so I got one and needless to say my wife and friends wiped it out. The small amount I did have tasted like kerosine but flavor changes constantly. What ya think?
Have not heard of that. I shall look it up. Love your BT Justice quote. I almost honked whiskey out my nose.
"Daddy my hat came off."
"I hope your goddamn head was in it!"
Nice blog! Only 6 months trying whiskey/bourbon. You've got a lot of catching up!!
You've tried a few that I haven't tried. Kentucky has what they call the Bourbon Trail. I have hit most places on it, but still have a couple to get to. If you get to Bardstown, Ky, you're close enough to hit all of them in a couple days. Not to mention, Bardstown is a nice place to stay.
My favorites are
Elijah Craig Single Barrel 18 years old.
Four Roses Single Barrel.
Old Pogue is another good one.
Woodford Reserve
Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit (Single Barrel) This one has a little kick!
But, taste vary from one person to another. But you have a good hobby there. I look forward to reading about other reviews you have.

That is on our vacation list. We really want to go to Buffalo Trace. We are heading to Virginia in May and will try and hit the Bowman Distillery.
I have not gone to Buffalo Trace yet. I have been told that is the best tour of all the distilleries. Evan Williams is the 2nd best, which I have been to. Should yo umake up this way, be sure to let me know. If you're into wine, there are several small vineyards in our area. At one time, Campbell County Kentucky (the county I live in) sold 30% of all commercially sold wine at one time in the U.S. I am of course talking back in the 1800's!
A good friend recommended "Buffalo Trace". I bought a bottle of it. To me, it is 'o.k.', for a bourbon. It has more 'bite' than Maker's Mark, and 1/2 the flavor.
Maker's Mark is my go-to bourbon. I also really like Woodford Reserve. I've had a 101-proof, 12-year (I think) special version of Wild Turkey, too. I don't remember much about it, other than it went down easy...
There used to be a brand that called its fare "Alabama Hooch" about 10 years ago--really smooth stuff, but I think they had some tax troubles and no longer exist.

Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel. That's what I mentioned above.
Makers Mark is good stuff. They make a better grade called 46 I believe.
There are several Buffalo Trace bourbons. I need to buy some and try them out. For sipping, the ones I mentioned above I believe you guys would approve off.
I will have to read the blog latetbsince im on my phone rigjt now.. but add old Yellowstone whiskey to your list..lol...so you have a bottom of the bottom shelf in tje basement whiskey on your list.
