the rear axle in a 1989 ford f250 is a ford 10.25 full floating axle.more commonly known as the "sterling."
it's the same axle used up until 1996 (f250/f350 in 97 also) in both the f250 and f350 trucks.
they came stock with either 3.55 or 4.10 gearing throughout the idi and first gen psd era.
the sterling 10.25 received an update in 1993.it's called the 2nd generation sterling.it got a longer pinion and yoke for increased durability.
your welcome.
i literally (like 10 mins ago) came in from a sterling rear axle swap (just running brake lines, etc today.did the heart of the swap yesterday.)
i put a 1989 DRW pickup axle under the ars end of my f250.no more spacers!
the f350 dually axle is also the same axle, but she's much, much wider to fit the dually rims.
she goes great!
iv got to run back out, wash the truck up and go for a ride.
