the ex employee that bought my 88 F-250 back in 93 called and asked me if i wanted it back.
it has been sitting since 97, and only has 83,000 miles on it. i figured if he did not want too much, i would consider it, so asked for a price.
he said free, just come get it out of here!
so, off i went.
i get there, and there are new 6 inch lift rear springs in the bed, waiting to be put on.
threw a set of batteries in it and it fired rite up after priming the fuel system.
this morning i went out and started taking it apart.
broken rear main leaf on the passenger side spring, and broken centering pin on the driver side. broken upper shock mount stud on passenger side too. no bushings in shocks, and he changed all the suspension bushings to poly, and they are all falling apart too.
the passenger side main leaf came out in 5 pieces, and the driver centering pin broke off the spring and is rust welded in the spring perch.
both shackle brackets are wasted, and the bolts are almost wore in half.
that is as far as i got.
i am going to napa for some new bolts, and see if i can get new rubber bushings to replace all that urethane crap.
it is a 88 F-250 with 7.3 deezel, banks non wastegated turbo, C-6 trans, 4.10 gears, and a D-60 KP front axle.
sorry Joe, this one is a keeper.
no bolts at napa. i am going to have to wait till tomorrow to get to the spring shop for bolts, u-bolts, and shackles.
he had put a 6 inch lift kit on it back in 93 and used 6 inch blocks with 16 inch long u-bolts.
i stuck the new passenger side spring in there with the worn out bolts and shackle, and it looks pretty good with the blocks removed. rear is sitting about 6 inches higher than the front. i figure it should sit about 1 or 2 inches *** high once i get the dump body back on it. .
no rust. this was not used much for plowing.
i got the driver side spring perch drilled out, and the new spring in.
no bolts, just using drift pins to hold everything in place till i can get it bolted together.
i am done for the day now. too damn hot out there.
