Putting wheel spacers on my 04 to put 08 20's on it and just had a question.
I have seen on a few different companies that a "wheel ring" is needed if the center bore of the new wheels is bigger than the OEM. It looks as if my center bore one my 20s is bigger than my 16s and just need some clarification. I know i need hubcentric and where to get them i was just wondering if i need wheel rings to keep the wheels hub centric. Thanks in advanced.
I honestly don't know 100%, but I think the hubcentric spacers are all you need. Others on here who have used OEM 20" wheels have only required the spacers. Since I've not made this plunge, I can't say for certain.
I currently have 08 20's on my Excursion right now and am using freds 2" hubcentric spacers. The wheels from an 05-current will fit on a 99-04 super duty or 2000-2005 excursion but you will encounter rubbing between the tires and the leaf springs. This is caused from the increased axle width in 05 on the super duties therefore less back spacing on the 05 and up wheels. I hope this is helpful.
I have been thinking of going with an 05+ set of wheels for my 01 Ex but its a 2wd and already has coil springs. Would any of these wheels work without spacers since there wouldnt be a leaf spring to encounter? I have an 05 F250 with factory 17's and if they would fit I may swap but didnt want to goto the trouble without knowing for sure.

I am running factory 08 wheels, 35in tires with no spacers and no lift with my left tire rubbing at full lock and that is it.
Ok, when I ran mine without any spacers my turning radius was affected dramatically because of contact between the inside of the tires with the leafs. I could also look at my ex from behind and tell the backspace was off because it looked like a train car. I'm glad they are working out for you. One question though, I wonder why your only getting contact on your left side, I would think everything would be symmetrical as far as distance from your inner tire to objects on your axle that could cause contact, for instance your leaf springs.

I apparently read your post wrong, I thought you were wanting to go with current 20's on your 05 f250. If you are wanting to go with 05 and up wheels for your ex you could run into rubbing issues like i did which required spacers to make right. The 2" spacers put the late model wheels back out to where they should be.
I was going to run with the spacers too with the late model 20's (05-Current) but I'm not sure how much longer I will have my Ex. I sprung for the set of spacers from Fred and I'm willing to part with them if you still need a set.
